CHAPTER ONE - Courage to Trust

Hump Day! The week is almost over! It has been so crazy around here. Well, it's always crazy, but it has been higher than normal.
I wouldn't say I love my job, but I don't hate coming here either.
My colleagues are wonderful, and there's always someone that makes me laugh while I'm here. The things we find, the stories we hear... they're nothing short of incredible and only things that could happen in Vegas.
I'm a maid in one of the top hotels in Vegas, and really, the only thing I hate about the job is picking up used condoms. The trash can isn't far from the bed. There is no excuse to leave them lying around. The saying "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" is something the guests staying in these rooms are all too aware of, and that's saying something.
This isn't my dream job, by far. At one point I thought I wanted to be a doctor, but that was side-tracked. I work here, it pays my bills, and the pay here is great.
Even at five years old, I dreamt of what my life would be. I wanted to find someone like my parents found in each other. I wanted that kind of love.
My life was completely altered when I was five years old.
And what had been a bad situation, only got worse.
If anyone could be any more broken, I didn't know them.
Eventually, as I got older, I lost the will to live.
I just got by.
I did what I had to, to make money.
And it all went to my little brother.
He would be the one to make it in our family.
He would have the dreams to live out.
"How many have you picked up?" Emma asks, pulling me out of my dark thoughts. Emma is both my roommate and best friend. We've lived together for three years now. She knows all my secrets, dark and otherwise. She doesn't hold it against me either. I could not ask for a better best friend than her. She is a lot more open than I am--you can read her like a book. If she is happy, you can tell, and if she's in a bad mood, it's written all over her face. I'm the opposite, so much the opposite. I rarely let people in, and I never talk about myself.
"Ten, and we haven't even taken the sheets off," I say, scared to see what we might find in them. I don't think I could walk if I had sex ten times in one night. "There must have been more than one couple here last night, because there is no way this is for just two people."
We lift the white cotton sheet and find two more. I gasp and laugh.
"If there was more than one couple in this room, I could understand. But only one? That man's gotta be a sex machine! The woman? I have no words. I mean, I don't know any normal woman that has sex that much, do you?"
Emma throws the sheets into her cart. "But how amazing would that be? Sex all night? What I wouldn't give for something like that." She says, as she pulls cleans sheets from her cart and walks over to the bed.
Neither one of us has a boyfriend. She hasn't found the one.
And me? That is a whole other story.
I'm not looking for the one, hell, I'm not even looking for something long term. I don't want to play the getting to know you game, I just want something for one night, no strings. No commitments. This is how I protect my heart. The men I meet prefer it that way too--no mixed feelings, and no chance of getting hurt.
When we finish cleaning the room, we head back to the staffroom together to check if there are any rooms that called for maid service. Normally, it's collecting their breakfast trays, or they need more towels. Then we wait for check-out time and clean the rest of our rooms, getting them ready for the next guest's arrival.

Time to get back into it

I am getting back into blogging :)
I will be posting twice a week, I think that is so much more doable for me, then every day. Then I will post another day.

So where should I start today?
Courage to Trust is doing well which I am very happy with, that is always a good start.

This is the blurb for the story

I knew I should have stayed away from Rhett Johnson. Captivating, beautiful, talented not to mention a UFC prize fighter, and a man who knows what he wants and he wants ME.
Who am I? Scarlett Parker. A maid in a luxury Vegas hotel. I’m damaged, broken and running away from the darkness around me. I don’t believe in happily ever after.
The attraction between us is like a drug, one we both dangerously need. Wounds break open as my past returns. Is this my happily ever after or is this a disaster waiting to happen?

Reviews have been very good, and feed back is amazing. I also have a Courage to Trust reader group come over and join me there.

You can buy a copy of Courage to Trust

Until next time

New Book

So a really good friend of mine has a new book out, Judging By The Cover and is now out for Pre Order. Get your come because the story is so good.

You can buy the book here -

So what is this book about well, no need to wait

Description:
They say blood is thicker than water, and that family comes before anything.
But, I knew that wasn’t true.
Because, in a split second, I found out that blood isn’t thicker than money.
Everything I thought I knew had turned upside down in an instant. I had never suspected a thing. I knew they weren’t the nicest people, but they were mine and I loved them regardless. I would never forgive them for hiding things from me, but I understood why. They never wanted me to be mixed up in their world.
That had changed the moment I overheard the conversation. I found out more in those few minutes than I ever needed to know.
Demi has moved into yet another house with her guardians, and she’s happy that she’s finally safe from the people who want her dead… until she meets the neighbors and their son.
Jordan, still reeling from the loss of his best friend, is angered by the arrival of the new neighbors that move in next door…into his friend’s house of all places.
What starts out as a volatile relationship turns into something else. Something a little less...hostile.
But... Demi can't have friends. If she did it wouldn't be safe for her, or them.
Jordan knows his behavior is irrational, but all he can think about was the day everything changed; the day he lost somebody close to him.
Can Demi get involved without putting him in danger, or will she put him at the highest risk possible to become friends?
Can Jordan get past the memories of the house next door and see Demi for who she really is?
Or, could Demi's painful past come back to put an end to them before they've even begun?
Warning:
Contains strong language and scenes unsuitable for persons under 18 years of age.
This book contains subjects that some readers may find difficult/disturbing to read.

So what are you guys waiting for, get your copy today.

My Week

This week has been a normal week in my life nothing special happened to me, working hard writing which to be honest is so relaxing for me, the Moving Series is nearly all done and I hope to have at least a month for you all, when it will be out very soon. Keep you eyes open for the cover and the blurb they will be on here very soon :)

So other than writing what have I been up to, well this we was playing games with my boys, I have two boys aged 6 and 3 and they are very active, I am so tried at the end of the day.

This week we made a Cars jigsaw puzzle which was a lot of fun, looking at my oldest trying very hard to make some of the piece fit, even if there were the wrong piece, can't blame him for trying.
My a my little one play with The Avenger Play-doh, he loves play-doh and if had the choice he would play with that and nothing else all day.
Then we had a family board game night and we played the cube, and the game is so much harder than I thought is would be, I have no idea how some of the tasks can be done, but we will be playing it again, as the family had so much fun.

This week I have also started my healthy eating, I wanted to take picture of most of the food that I made but I kept forgetting, so the only picture I took are of my breakfast.

Home made pancakes and waffles, I will try harder this week to remember to take pictures before I eat all my food. Me and my sister are also going to start boxercising which should be fun, not sure if we are starting next week, or the week after that but I will be keeping you all up to date on that.

I have also got my eye on two things that I really want to buy myself, as a treat.

These brushes have been all over the place, and they cost a lot, I have only been able to find the from US site and this one is a foundation brush which is $40.

These candles smell amazing, when ever I got to the store I have to have a smell of them, the mini ones are £20 and the larger ones are 190g are £40 so its not something that I can go to the store and just pick up, it will be something that will be a treat for myself.

Do you have something that is on your wish list? Let me know.

I am a very positive thinker and read a lot of positive books, the other day I saw this on Instagram and I could to agree with it more.

I love looking at things like this through out the day, to remind myself that I shouldn't worry about making other people happy, if they don't care why should I.
Do you have a favourite saying, or quote? please let me know as I have a small note book which I write down all the ones I like so though out the day I can open to page and read it, and would like to add more to that note book.

So not much happening this week, but I do have a giveaway happing for a chance to win a copy of Moving On and Moving Forward, you can enter here. All you have to do it recommend me a book to read that simple.

I hope you have a great weekend.

Here is a snipper of Moving On for you all.

Im glad I have Zoe to accompany me tonight. Hopefully it won't feel too much like work and just a nice night out to take my mind off things.
How about one of these?Zoe holds up two dresses. Theyre absolutely stunning.
I smile gratefully at Zoe; she is amazing at picking outfits. She chooses a black strapless dress for me that falls just below my knee. The lace on the breast area makes the whole look both chic and classic. Meanwhile, Zoe picks a body hugging plum colored dress with laced sleeves, perfectly highlighting her skin tone and wild hair.
"They won't think you're a reporter at all.She says, and we both try not to laugh.

Well, Ill sort this out at the counter while you make a phone call. She quickly winks and then disappears further into the store.
Zoe!I whine, but shes already in line. I take a deep breath.
Its just lunch, no biggie. I tell myself.
I pull out my phone, and the card that Zoe had obviously slipped into my bag.
It rings once.
Nicholas Webb. His business voice sounds through the earpiece.
"Uh, hi Mr Webb, its Miss TurnerKim.I pause.
I must sound like an idiot.
“Were about to have lunch.I slap my forehead.
Smooth Kim, smooth.
"So where are we eating?" He asks. And call me Nick.I can practically hear the smile in his voice. Is he laughing at me? Well, I would too. That was so embarrassing!
I quickly rack my brain before he has another reason to laugh.
"Theres an Italian Restaurant just around the corner from the mall.I suggest, doubt filling my mind.
He probably only dines at seven star restaurants.
I know the one. Ill meet you both there.
Well Im really surprised! That's why it's wrong to stereotype. I should have known better.

When Zoe and I walk into the restaurant, a waitress leads us to the table and Nicks already there. I take a deep breath as I sit down; I can feel his hazel eyes on me.
"How was your shopping trip?" He looks straight at me, that navy suit fitting him like a glove.
"Good, thanks.I answer, looking at my menu.
"How's your day been so far?Zoe asks, making conversation.
"Busy. He sighs. Spent it mainly in meetings.
"The life you're leading tends to be like that.Zoe points out the obvious, nudging me with her elbow and I fight the urge to roll my eyes at her.
"But you've been doing a great job so far." I interject, entering the conversation and I hold his gaze. I can feel the giddy vibes oozing out from Zoe's pores, beside me.
"Thank you, Miss Turner." He says with a smile.
"Can I take your order?" The waiters asks to my right, saving me from answering or making more of a fool out of myself.
"Can I have the chicken fettuccine and some red wine, please?" I say, cracking my first smile, but aimed at the waiter.
"Same for me, please." Zoe hands in her menu.
"My usual.Nick says, taking my menu from me and passing it to the waiter.
I smile in thanks and it never even occurred to me that he might have a usual.
"Please.I say quickly to the waiter.
"You might be rich in money, but your manners are poor." I raise an eyebrow at Nick. I can see his smirk creeping across his face again.
"Sorry, that was rude." He looks at the waiter. "Please."
The waiter fights a grin as he saunters off from our table.

Zoe and Nick talk for most of the time while I play around with my food.
"What do you really want?"
Did I just say that out loud?
Their heads snap up, both staring at me with surprise. Zoes eyes are wide with total disapproval while Nick leans back in his chair, his eyes swimming with curiosity. I honestly didnt mean for that to slip out, but I was sick of this stupid game that he was playing.
“What I mean is.I lick my lips and straighten up in my chair. What do you wantwith me?
Nick leans forward and clasps his hands together. Always so serious.
“Well, I wanted to take you to dinner, and you said no.He raises an eyebrow at me, and I feel a little guilty. Then I wanted to take you to the event this evening, you said no.I open my mouth to argue back, but shut it again when he lifts a finger. So here I am, having lunch with you.He finishes, leaning back in his chair.
"But I said no for a reason.I say firmly, barely blinking as we continue to hold each others gaze.
 "Then, whats the reason?"
“Let's just say I'm not interested, and leave it at that." I sigh, looking around for the waiter to ask for the bill. I think its time I left.
"If you could excuse me.He says, leaving the table when his phone suddenly rings.
Well there goes my leaving plan.

"What are you doing?" Zoe whisper shouts at me.
"Nothing.I whisper back. I dont want this."
"Oh please! She scoffed. I can tell you feel something when he looks at you. Give him a chance."
I feel weird, that's what I feel.
Zoe is pushing this too hard. I just dont know why she is doing this then Id be royally pissed. I don't want to feel anything for Nicholas Webb. Not just to him, in fact, not anyone. Not again.
"That would work well, wouldn't it?I cross my arms to be more dramatic. “Where would I start? You can't touch me because I freak out’”
Zoe lets out a long, aggravated sigh.
The less he knows the better.I continue, lowering my voice. Zoe says nothing back.
"Sorry about that.Nick says as he re-joins us, causing Zoe to shut her mouth again and my shoulders relax.
I take my glass in my hand and pretend to drink so that I don't have to start a conversation. Theres a moment of silence, and I can tell that he knows somethings up. Zoe then jumps in and starts up the conversation, but I can feel his eyes on me the whole time.

"Thank you for lunch, girls. He smiles, putting his card on the table.
"We can pay our half.I suggest, reaching for my purse and putting the money on the table. Zoe shakes her head at me. Maybe if I'm rude to him, he will leave me alone. I've barely spoken the whole hour that weve been here and I dont think the hint couldnt be clearer.
"Can I at least take you home?"
Before I can say no, a black BMW pulls up in front of us and the driver opens the door.

"Thank you, Brian.Nick waits for us to get in the car before following.
Okay, fine, hes definitely a gentleman.
"So after that meal Kim…” He looks sideways at me. “…I think you owe me the opportunity to take you to dinner.
Oh no, please no. How could he not understand? I am broken, unfixable, and so very wrong for him.
"I-Ill be busy writing up my article about the event tonight.I blurt out, which actually has some truth to it. My editor needs it ASAP.
The car falls silent and I look out the window to watch the world go by. I can tell Zoe is doing some kind of sign language beside me, but I don't care, she only wants the best for me.
